Socks started and then...

Well I started on Karen's socks and quickly discovered that it just wasn't going to work. Now the question is, why? The math works out. Definitely have enough of the absolutely gorgeous yarn. The problem is the pattern, that I designed for the sock in combination with the variegated yarn. I should be counting the stitches which would eliminate the problem entirely. Am I going to count my way through 2 socks? Nope. Socks are supposed to be fun and interesting. Not a test of patience like the socks from hell. So! I've revamped the design pattern and with luck will have the first sock completed by Sunday. That would be so cool!
A day late, but this is the snow we got yesterday.
Caused all kinds of havoc but didn't stop school or cause a late start today. Very pretty, but it is now melting off in preparation for the next storm that will be moving into the area on Monday! Sorry Karen.
David took Olivia into the Dr. today since I had homemade Chicken soup to make and I've been up since 2:30, a.m. that is. She is sick with the same stuff the rest had over a week ago. Soooooo..... we're on a loop that is going to have everyone getting sick again. Margot is just so great! She immediately gave David a prescription for antibiotics for ALL of us. Yes, we're all taking the meds. We've got to stop this stuff in its tracks. uggg...
Well I've taken most of the day to get this short post out. Its 8:15 p.m., I'm tired and can barely keep my eyes open. Happy dreams...

Monday and we're still moving... though stiffly and slowly!

What better work can you think of than one that also allows lots of play!
Since we only have one rake the kids gathered their snow shovels and used those to help build this pile of leaves. Amazingly there are still leaves in the yard for raking.

Re-arranged the furniture for the holidays. See the plastic storage containers all around the piano? I'm the lucky one who gets to go through all of them and organize everything. Yipee!
Yes, I know the tree is up. Just figured that if we were bringing all this stuff up, that we'd just go ahead and set it up. We always decorate the tree on Thanksgiving evening anyway. So at least that part of the holiday is ready and waiting.
Just took me 6 months to eliminate all the kids school work from the dining room. But I did get it done. I love this room and we're definitely using it for the holidays.
A little bit of re-arrangeing in the bedroom also. David left for Florida today and with this picture I can see that the windows just sparkle! He finished washing all the windows and screens in one day. Still have the rest of the blinds left to do. I promised him that I'd get the boys done while he was in Florida.
Sock #2 in process. I hope to have this completed before he gets home from his business trip. What a surprise he is going to get come Christmas morning! 2 socks!!!
Here's my group! Loving Monday morning and getting to go to school! David was kind enough to take Kristina and Josh to their bus stop for me this a.m. so I didn't have to get the kids in the car at 6 a.m. Tomorrow will find us all piling in at that time though.
