This scarf pattern is called, "Shifting Sands". I hope you can see by the picture the reason for the name. I absolutely fell in love with it when I first saw it (done in a sandy gold wool yarn) but decided that for my use it would be better in this color scheme. I love the way the pattern appears to move and the yarns color produces a natural crossing. 2 skeins later the scarf is complete and I learned how to produce a partial cable without a cable needle.
Here is the cashmere scarf still in progress. I absolutely love the feel of this material. Wow! What your seeing is a bit over half of a completed scarf. To give you an idea of stitch count there are approximately 3000 stitches per "Northern Star" block. The scarf pattern calls for 9 stars on the scarf. I opted to do only 5 stars and let the cashmere fill in the other missing stars so that one can enjoy the feel of the cashmere as a fabric.
With any luck the individual that I have this intended for will actually get it. It will be hard to let this one go.
Woofy Bear! My new addition and the last addition to my aggressive tank is this little one. Who eventually will be 15 inches in length and probably will attempt to eat every other inhabitant in the tank. But that's a long way off. Woofy Bear is a "Dog Faced Puffer". We got him last night and he just came right in and made himself at home. Everyone else just moved out of the way. Today finds everyone more relaxed and just doing what they all do best..... allowing me to relax... watching them glide effortlessly along as they watch me.
