Birthdays, Green Chili, "The Fresh Taste of Coke" and Christmas projects!

Can't say who this is going to for Christmas, but it sure will come in handy this winter ;-)! This is the first of the projects to be completed. Lots more to follow! Check back often....

Bears are out and about in the area again as are the Bobcats. Had a run in with one of our short-tailed neighbors the other day. I was in the garage getting the bike ready for a quick errand and turned around to find a Bobcat standing about 6' away staring at me. So.... I returned the stare. As we sat there eyeing each other it occured to me that I should get a picture. I turned back around scrambling to find my camera/phone in the saddle bag and apparently took to much time for his liking. As I finally found the camera and turned around he had sauntered across street and was walking away. Oh well maybe next time I'll be better prepared for our little encounter!
Birthday parties are always so much fun and Kristina was kind enough to wait to do hers after school started. We really wanted to make sure that all she invited would be able to attend.
So here are her decorations....
but here are the real party accoutrement's ...
and more.....
Now let me explain... we happened upon this hatchet and just couldn't resist the temptation to get her a hatchet that she can't hurt herself with. Fortunately it glows in the dark. So she will definitely see it coming when she uses it!
Time to blow out the candles...
Yeah! Happy Birthday, Kristina! We love you!
Since our kids have never had a bottled Coke before I wanted to make sure that this event went down in history with documentation. So here we go!
Ahhhhhh......
finally finished these socks! Started last Feb. and finished them on August 22nd. Whew......
The first batches of Hatch green chili's made their appearance last weekend. Of course we were on hand to purchase some of the firsts. So of course
Green Chili was immediately on the menu! Olivia couldn't wait and ate a chili on her own before I could begin the labor intensive process of producing our first pork/green chili of the season. Here are the cleaned chili's!
Nothing like browning the meat to get your mouth watering....
the almost finished product. Just a little stewing and it was time to eat! Yum!
