Good Grief...

Wow! I've had a morning already (its 6:55). I've totally flipped out over something that happened in front of my house almost an hour ago, e-mailed Karen about what unbelieveably occured (she comes into town for business and gets the LOW DOWN on what is going on over here, God and I both love her for her patience), and then I jump on the computer to check out some of my favorite blogs to calm down. Thank God for Coffee, High Blood Pressure meds and a computer that is working!

Deep breathe...... ahhhh.

My boys walk in separately this morning and at different times in their underwear! I guess they stripped down during the night. Is this a boy thing? We did go through a period where every time I checked on Hunter during the night he would be partially covered and as I was looking for his p.j.'s. I'd pull back the covers to discover that he was buck naked. I guess I should be proud that he has moved back into his underwear for nighttime use.
Finally finished my "car" socks. Now there's another pair of socks in the car waiting to be made. Hunter will get that pair.



Karen and I slipped out last night for Montagues and a light dinner. This is probably the last time we'll be able
to get together while she's here. Gotta love the Pumpkin/Tomato Soup. Its sooooo good.
When I dropped Karen at the USOC last night she pointed out that the Flame was lit. I've never in all the years we've lived here seen the flame. So on my way out I had to stop and get a pic.



Today is going to be a Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese day. ummmm.

Surprise!

Oh I'm so excited! Karen was able to sneak away for dinner tonight with me to one of our favorite restaurants. Her last visit into town was harried and so is this visit. As usual her business trips just don't leave us much time to really get to visit as much as I'd like. But then again I'm terribly selfish and want to monopolize all her time while she is here. I miss having her close by and being able to visit in a more relaxed way. I know these trips are a hardship for her and in the end I'm sure they exhaust her, but I can't help but be excited every time I hear she's on her way back for more business. So fortunately for me she is coming back again on Sunday! I hope that we'll be able to get out again for some dinner, maybe this time with David, and let Karen try a new Thai place that we love.

Dinner at Mirch Masala is always on the agenda when Karen comes to town if time permits! This is typically what Karen and I get when we dine here. Karen gets the Chicken Tikka Masala (top)and I normally get the Chicken Korma but splurged and got the Lamb Korma tonight (bottom right). Yum! The Mango Lasse and the hot Chai are wonderful accompaniments. Tonight with the cooler weather the hot Chai hit the spot for me. What more can you ask for? Great company, wonderful food and hot Chai!

I'm almost embarrassed to post this in the same entry as my post on Karen's visit, but I think Karen would understand. Especially since I had told her about my lovely sock that I was working on at the house! This is the yarn. I just absolutely love it. The colors are just perfect for now (Fall! Its been chilly outside today and this evening!) The sock will be a bit big but I have every intention to use this pair of socks with some boots that will show them off.

Now I realize that your probably wondering what this is about. Well what do you think about a grocery bag that works before it is even finished? This particular bag in supporting its own yarn (there are actually 2 skeins in there) while I work on it. (Jessica, this is a good representation of the color of the dishrag that Olivia is working on right now.) I'm hoping that this bag will hold a couple of bottles of wine or bread when completed.

The yellow you see here will be a great contrast color for this bag. Still looking for the darker blue.

Sweater finished and more news....

Here I sit working on Parker's sweater - desperately trying to get it finished tonight! As you know I've been "working" on this sweater for almost a year now. I am determined that he is getting this sweater before I leave town next week for Texas. My friend, Devonia, is having surgery on the 1st of October and she's allowing me to come and play nurse for her. I'll be leaving here on the 26th and staying with my parents for a couple of days before heading over to Devonia's to stay for the remainder of my time in Texas.

Parker had to try on the partial sweater so I could make sure all was well with size before I set off to put all the pieces together. He's one happy little guy.

Here's a picture that Devonia sent me today of (l-r) Amy (Jeremy's girlfriend), Kay (a friend of Devonia's), Devonia and Shelva (another friend). This picture was taken in Iowa at one of the many covered bridges. By the looks of it the weather was wonderful for her trip up there.

Here is the finished sweater. I'm so glad to have this done, especially after having to tear it out again after the last picture that I posted on it. This sweater has been long in coming and I'm sure that tomorrow morning Parker will want to wear it. Unfortunately our weather is warm and he will have to put it away until cooler temps arrive.

Karen made it in town for business on Wednesday after spending 3 weeks in Japan and China for the Paralympics. She was able to sneak away for a dinner Thursday evening at Mirch Masala (our favorite Indian restaurant). I forgot to take my camera so I have no recent picture to post. Karen and I met through "Riders Edge". This is the class that we took to learn how to ride our bikes, safely. Through this class I made a dear friend and a great riding partner. This is a old picture (6/2006)

As always we're sad to have her head home, but we always look forward to her next trip back to Colorado and another wonderful visit.
